Suzuki eVX concept unveiled, to start deliveries in 2025

Ro, 11 January 2023

Suzuki unveiled its eVX concept at New Delhi's 2023 Auto Expo, accompanied by a short and not very informative press release on the company's website. The eVX is a compact crossover that's set to make its production car debut sometime in 2025.

The Japanese automaker is pretty slow to the party and remains as one of the few legacy car manufacturers that still doesn't have a fully electric car in its portfolio. And it seems that fans of the brand would have to wait a couple of more years for that.

Suzuki doesn't reveal much in terms of technical specs, except that the eVX has all-wheel drive, is bigger than the Vitara and comes with a battery capacity close to 60 kWh and a range of about 550 km. That's been calculated by India's MIDC, though, which tends to be more optimistic.

The design is sharp and aggressive and suggests that the eVX is off-road ready. Still, there's a lot of time until Suzuki actually starts producing a car based on the eVX, so some things may change.

Suzuki also pointed out that it's collaborating with Inmotive from Canada on a project that enables two-speed transmission for EVs. This would ultimately boost efficiency and range and it will be used in future Suzuki cars.
