Galaxy is Geely's new premium EV brand, to launch 7 models in 2 years

Ro, 24 February 2023

Geely just announced a new premium EV brand called "Yinhe", which translates to "Galaxy" from Chinese and it has ambitious plans for the next two years. Geely wants to launch a total of seven models in the next two years, starting with PHEVs as early as this year, but a fully-electric sedan is coming in Q4 2023. A new Galaxy Light EV concept stole the spotlight, but the company didn't reveal much about its specs.

The L7 is a plug-in hybrid SUV planned for Q2 this year, followed by the L8 sedan in Q3. The so-called E8 should hit the streets in Q4, becoming the first BEV in the Galaxy lineup.

Speaking of the L7, some images popped up on Weibo, showing the vehicle from all angles.

There's also a shot of the interior, showcasing three screens and a sporty steering wheel.

When it comes to specs, Geely isn't very vocal about those, but it did mention that the future Galaxy Light concept is based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture, so it will likely share some specs with vehicles from Volvo, Lotus, Polestar and Zeekr as they all fall under Geely's umbrella.

The PHEV models, on the other hand, will rely on Geely's NordThor 8848 powertrain, which promises a top speed of at least 200 km/h and a total range of 1,370 km (851 mi) on a full tank and battery.

All Galaxy cars will run on the latest Galaxy N-Operating System that boots in just 0.5 seconds.

Unfortunately, Geely isn't making any plans to release any of the aforementioned cars outside of China, at least for now.

Bad name. Galaxy just makes you think of Samsung as they've branded and advertised it so well.
