VW unveils 2023 ID.4 pricing for the US market

Last month we heard that VW would offer a US-built ID.4 with a smaller battery and lower price, for the 2023 model year, and today the company made the news official.

The base model, called ID.4 Standard, starts at $37,495 and has a 62 kWh battery which VW estimates will be capable of 208 miles (334 km) of EPA range. It has a single 201 hp (150 kW) rear motor. The $42,495 ID.4 Pro comes with an 82 kWh battery (with a preliminary estimated EPA range of 275 miles / 442 km), while the $46,295 ID.4 AWD Pro adds a front motor bumping the total power output to 295 hp (217 kW). This one gets an estimated 255 miles (410 km) of EPA range. Both Pros support 170 kW DC charging. All prices exclude the $1,295 destination fee.

The 2023 ID.4 also brings "subtle but purposeful styling upgrades", like gloss black highlights on the front bumpers, an illuminated front VW emblem, and three new wheel designs. There are eight paint colors available for the outside, while on the inside there's a standard 12" infotainment screen.

The Standard model has stitching on the dash in addition to new fabrics and leatherette seat side bolsters, and the trim has two interior colors: Stone or Nutmeg, the former paired with black and gray accents, the latter with brown hues.

The screen integration looks busy and ugly.

That's just a small niggle compared to infotainment that keeps crashing with surprisingly high consistency. IMHO ID.4 is really nice looking car, especially with two tones, multiple colour here and there, but the efficiency and powertrain are...
