DS E-Tense Performance shown at the Paris Motor Show

The original 2016 DS E-Tense had two electric motors pushing 402 HP, its top speed was 155 mph (250 km/h) and 0 to 62 mph was dealt with in 4.5 seconds. 6 years is a long time in the electric car world, let alone in the electric car prototype world.

The updated DS E-Tense Performance on display at the Paris Motor Show borrowed heavily from Formula E - the front motor has no less than 335 HP and the rear one comes with 469 HP for a total of 805 HP, which actually is more than twice the power that Formula E cars have.

DS is refusing to publish the usual, crank measured torque figures and instead touts the ridiculous 5,900 lb-ft at the wheels or 8,000 Nm. Looking at electric cars with similar power output, we can safely estimate the torque to be around 900 Nm or 660 lb-ft.

Battery is the cherry on the cake when it comes to this car - developed by Total Energies and wrapped in its own carbon-aluminum composite case, it has a unique chemical composition and comes with an immersive cell cooling system. DS credits this unusual solution for the battery’s 600 kW discharge capability.

Although the cockpit of the car has been designed with an intention to gather as much driving data as possible, which is the task of working prototype, the interior is no different than in any racing car. There are two racing seats and a steering wheel straight from a Formula E car.

The DS E-Tense Performance is a laboratory on wheels, the company is using it to evaluate the Formula E technology and its application in the road going vehicles. The design is supposed to signal the future electric cars from DS and we are already seeing the new DRLs in the latest models - just updated DS 3 for example.
