Mercedes teases the upcoming AMG electric SUV
Mercedes revealed its 4-door AMG GT coupe back in May, which is the carmaker's most powerful vehicle yet, outputting 1,169 hp in the GT 63 version. During the announcement, Mercedes hinted at an AMG SUV counterpart that will employ the same technologies as the 4-door coupe. Well, the German car manufacturer teased the new AMG SUV on Instagram, so the announcement is likely close.
The post doesn't reveal much. We can only assume that the SUV will feature the same technologies and one of the configurations will likely offer 1,000+ hp. Moreover, the coupe is based on an 800V platform, and so will the AMG SUV, likely capable of adding 280 miles of range in just 11 minutes.
It's too early to tell what it would look like with that cover on the photos, but judging by the headlights and taillights design, the SUV will borrow the AMG GT's design traits. What seems to be out of the ordinary are the single taillights as opposed to the triple arrangement on the coupe version.
Perhaps more will be revealed soon, or maybe Mercedes will unwrap the SUV entirely in the next couple of weeks.
