Tesla drops Cybertruck prices with a new $60,000 entry model
Tesla is making a big change to how much its famous truck costs. The company added a new version of the Cybertruck that starts at £44,000. This is now the lowest price we have seen for the vehicle since it launched. Along with this new model, Tesla also cut the price of its most expensive version, the Cyberbeast.
The new entry-level model uses an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. It has two motors - one in the front and one in the back. Before this, the cheapest version only had one motor in the back. Even though the price is lower, this new AWD model still has many features that people like. It comes with a motorized cover for the truck bed and power outlets to plug in tools or gear.
Many people waited for the £29,000 price that Tesla promised back in 2019. When the truck finally came out in 2023, the price was actually £87,000 for the first models - three times more than what people expected. Since then, Tesla tried selling a version for £51,000, but they stopped making it because it did not sell well. The new £44,000 price is a big step toward making the truck more affordable for regular drivers.
The top-of-the-line Cyberbeast also got a new price - Tesla cut it by £10,900. It now costs $100,000, putting the price back to where it was last summer before a sudden hike. The Cyberbeast is the fastest version of the truck. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in about 2.7 seconds. It is very heavy, weighing roughly 6,669 lb, but it can still move like a sports car.
Size is a big part of the Cybertruck appeal. The truck is about 18.64 ft long and 7.91 ft wide with the mirrors out. It has a large bed that is 6 ft long and 4 ft wide. The truck can carry 2,500 lb of cargo in the back and tow up to 11,001 lb.
Tesla is trying every trick in the sales bible because it is having a hard time selling the truck. The company is selling about 5,000 trucks every three months. That is much lower than the 250,000 trucks they wanted to sell every year. To find more buyers, Tesla started selling the truck in new countries and even suggested using it as a self-driving delivery van. So far, those ideas have not helped much. Now, the company is trying a classic move: charging less money.
The driving range is a bit different for the new models. The $60,000 AWD model can travel about 325 miles on a full charge. This is a little less than the 350 miles the old one-motor model could do. Having two motors makes the truck better for driving in snow or mud, and with about 600 horsepower, it can reach a top speed of 112 mph.
Some people think the Cybertruck looks like a spaceship, others think it looks like a stainless-steel box. Either way, it faces tough times. Rivals often cost less or can drive further on a single charge. By lowering prices, Tesla hopes to find more buyers but it will be interesting to see if a $60,000 price tag is enough to convince more people to get behind the wheel of this futuristic car.
