Tesla's Cybertruck will double as a boat, Elon Musk says

Tesla's Cybertruck really is the gift that keeps on giving. Following its recent better-very-very-late-than-never release into the hands of the first customers, we've seen a lot of content about it - and understandably so, given its very unique appearance. But this - this is something else.

During the same conversation with Jay Leno where he revealed that Tesla is in fact working on wireless charging for EVs for the home, Tesla VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy also said the Cybertruck "almost floats", and if you're creative you could figure out how to go boating with it. Then Elon Musk got involved and took the whole thing to another level.

In a post on X replying to what Moravy said, Musk nonchalantly stated that Tesla is going to offer "a mod package" that will let the Cybertruck traverse at least 3,937 inches of water as a boat.

Apparently, for this to happen, it's mostly about upgrading the cabin door seals. Whether an outboard motor, plugged into one of the Cybertruck's outlets, will also be involved, as initially suggested by Moravy, remains an open question, as Musk hasn't elaborated any further on that particular point.

Still, it might cost multiples of what we were initially led to believe, but at least the Cybertruck will - for an added fee - float like a boat!
