Audi introduces Q8 e-tron edition Dakar

In a move that blends style with rugged capability, Audi introduced the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar, an electric SUV inspired by the world-renowned Dakar Rally. This off-road-ready vehicle boasts increased ground clearance, striking design elements, and a powerful drivetrain for those who crave adventure beyond the asphalt.

The Q8 e-tron edition Dakar has its ground clearance raised by 1.22 inches and is fitted with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires that promise to improve acceleration and braking on loose surfaces.

Built on the Q8 e-tron 55, powered by its 106 kWh net battery (114 kWh gross) and its drivetrain with two motors, the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar delivers 300 kW in boost mode, propelling it from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds. The WLTP-certified range of up to 303 miles promises that this electric SUV is not just about performance but also practicality for everyday use.

Available in just three colors - Siam Beige metallic, Mythos Black metallic, and Magnetic Gray - the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar stands out with its distinctive exterior. The widened wheel arches give it a confident stance, while optional decals inspired by the legendary RS Q e-tron add a touch of exclusivity. Limited to 99 units, these wrapped models also feature frosted lettering on the D-pillar indicating the serial number.

This special edition doesn't compromise on features. Matrix LED headlights and taillights, tinted sun visors, and the S-line interior with sports seats are just the beginning. The Audi Sport stitching package in red adds a sporty touch to the cabin. A head-up display, enhanced MMI operating system with tilt angle information, and themed MMI background images for the edition Dakar add to an immersive driving experience.

The Q8 e-tron edition Dakar is not just about style and performance; it's practical too. Equipped with a storage and luggage compartment package, roof rack, and a second charging socket for the high-voltage battery, it caters to the needs of adventure-seekers. It also ships with a set of summer tires in addition to the aforementioned all-terrain ones for extra versatility.

For those seeking a premium driving experience, optional features include the ambient light package, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System. Rear-view cameras instead of side mirrors help reduce the vehicle's width and provide clearer visibility in challenging off-road conditions.

Yes, Audi clearly borrowed the idea from Porsche here and hiked up the standard Q8 e-tron and added a ton of off-road goodies but it is a good idea, right? It worked for Porsche with the 911 Dakar, and so it’ll do wonders for the Q8.
