BYD Sealion 7 European version detailed, UK to get three versions
BYD announced its mid-size SUV Sealion 7 back in October during the Paris Auto Show 2024 and while it did confirm it's coming to the European market eventually it didn't reveal the details of that version. The car was now officially introduced to the UK, revealing it will come in three versions - Comfort, Design and Excellence.
Starting with the Comfort option, it runs on an 82.5 kWh battery and a single motor, outputting 303 hp. The rated WLTP range is 298 miles.
The Design variant adopts the same battery but adds another electric motor for an AWD setup totaling 514 hp. The range drops slightly to 282 miles. The DC charging rate is 150 kW for both versions, giving you 80% charge from 10% in 32 minutes.
The top version is called Excellence is also all-wheel drive, but adds a bigger 91.3 kWh battery, while the two motors are the same as on the Design variant. That gives the Excellence an estimated range of 311 miles. The DC charging is also higher, at 230 kW, going from 10 to 80% in 24 minutes.
The heat pump is standard across all configurations, along with the V2L function, which lets you use the car's battery to power appliances.
Inside, the Sealion 7 has a rotating 15.4-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. The front seats are electrically adjustable and ventilated on all trims.
BYD has yet to disclose prices and availability dates, but they should be announced by the end of this year.

It looks ok but not that efficient if 91.5kwh only provides 311 miles of WLTP range.

What's in a name? If it's the car for you, it's the car for you. Get over it. I'd have a Mercedes Crapola if it's what I wanted. I drive a Mustang Mach E ev, not for the name, just for the car.

Who at BYD believes that these absurd names will help sell cars?
