CATL unveils a battery good for over 1 million km or 15 years

CATL, the world's leading power battery manufacturer, has unveiled a new battery designed specifically for electric buses. This new battery boasts a remarkable 15-year lifespan or a staggering 1.5 million km (over 930,000 miles).

Dubbed the CATL Tectrans Bus Edition, this revolutionary battery also claims the highest energy density in the sector at 175 Wh/kg. This means buses can travel further on a single charge, enhancing their efficiency and practicality.

The Tectrans Bus Edition comes with a 10-year or 620,000 miles warranty, assuring operators of its reliability and performance over the long haul.

The new battery has been designed to withstand the rigors of daily bus operations. It comes with an IP69 rating, meaning it's completely dust-tight and can handle high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. In fact, it can survive being submerged in water for up to 72 hours, making it exceptionally resilient in challenging weather conditions.

CATL has announced that the Tectrans Bus Edition will soon enter mass production. It has already secured partnerships with 13 vehicle manufacturers, including major players like Yutong Bus, Golden Dragon, and Dongfeng Motor. Impressively, the battery is slated to be used in 80 different bus models, demonstrating its broad applicability.

This is a significant step forward for CATL, which already holds a commanding 37.6% global market share in the vehicle battery industry. The company has been aggressively expanding its presence in the commercial vehicle battery market, and the Tectrans Bus Edition is proof of its ambition.

As cities around the world continue to embrace electric buses as a cleaner and more sustainable transportation option, CATL's new battery will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in accelerating this transition.
