Chery's Exeed Sterra ES promises 562 miles range
Chery's premium car brand, Exeed, has unveiled its maiden electric sedan, the Sterra ES. The car will be a direct rival to Xiaomi's impending electric pioneer. With an enticing starting price of RMB 225,800 (just over $31,600), the entry version boasts a commendable CLTC range of 342 miles, while its pricier counterpart flaunts an impressive range of up to 562 miles.
This all-electric sedan is offered in five configurations, comprising four single-motor versions boasting maximum powers of 185 kW and 230 kW. The two cheapest versions use 400 V architecture, while the rest of the lineup is built on 800 V.
The dual-motor version accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a brisk 3.7 seconds, courtesy of its combined power output of 353 kW - that's 473 hp. The pricing spectrum ranges from RMB 225,800 to RMB 339,800 for the priciest version (just over $47,400).
The Sterra ES measures 194.7 inches in length, 77.9 inches in width, and 57.8 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 118 inches.
Sterra ES's battery can regain 93 miles on a brief five-minute charge and promises 30% to 80% charge in just 15 minutes. The inclusion of air suspension, once reserved for high-end vehicles, underscores Exeed's commitment to blending luxury with mainstream electric vehicles.
Exeed sweetens the deal for early birds, with customers placing a RMB 5,000 deposit receiving benefits valued at RMB 50,000 - that's nearly $7,000. The company is rapidly expanding its dealership network, eyeing over 460 stores in China by 2024.
There's no getting away from the fact that Sterra ES bears a striking resemblance to the Luxeed S7, the pioneering model from the Luxeed brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery.
