FIA unveils seven car makers who will race in Formula E next season

Today the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has announced the first seven car manufacturers among those that will race against each other in Formula E next season, using the all-new Gen3 electric race car, which is due to be unveiled on April 28 in Monaco, ahead of the Monaco E-Prix on April 30.

The makers are as follows: DS Automobiles, Jaguar, Mahindra Racing, Maserati, NIO 333, Nissan, and Porsche. The full list of teams will be released "later in 2022".

The Gen3 car will make its debut in the next season, which is Season 9 of Formula E, otherwise known as the 2022-2023 season. Currently Season 8, or the 2021-2022 season, is ongoing, with the last race set for August 14. Manufacturers will take delivery of the Gen3 car this spring, to prepare for the upcoming season.

Gen3 is the world's most efficient racing car, with at least 40% of the energy used within a race being produced by regenerative braking during the race, and it's also lighter and smaller than Gen2.
