Ford teases sportier F-150 Lightning concept

Ford CEO Jim Farley gave a sneak peek (literally) to Red Bull F1 reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo of what looks like a track-ready F-150 Lightning.

The concept car is part of a series of special performance demonstrator EVs that Ford has been working on in its design studio. It appears to be a lowered, likely lighter and more aerodynamic version of the ongoing EV truck.

Ford recently struck a historic deal with Red Bull, marking the automaker's return to Formula 1 for 2026, after nearly 20 years. The collaboration includes co-developing a 350kW electric motor that would fit in F1's new regulations. Another part is Ford evolving its EV technology.

Farley's a true believer in improving EV aerodynamics to make the most of their range and efficiency. Where better to do such work than in the epicenter of automotive aerodynamics, F1?

Ford has other such EV performance demonstrator concepts. One such is the Mustang Mach-E 1400, and another is an electric supervan with almost 2,000hp.
