Honda Ye S7 electric SUV teased ahead of debut

Honda is ready to enter the Chinese electric vehicle market with the upcoming Ye S7, the first model under its new EV sub-brand. The Japanese automaker unveiled official images of the Ye S7, showing off a sleek SUV with a full-length panoramic sunroof.

Set to launch by the end of the year, the Ye S7 will be manufactured by Dongfeng Honda, a joint venture between Honda and Dongfeng Motor. The SUV is expected to cater specifically to the needs of Chinese consumers and will be based on Honda's all-electric Architecture W.

Details about the Ye S7's specifications have emerged from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The SUV measures 187 inches in length, 76 inches in width, and 64 inches in height, and it has a wheelbase of 115.4 inches. The sole version listed in the MIIT catalog boasts dual electric motors supplied by United Automotive Electronic Systems, delivering a combined output of 350 kW, or 470 horsepower.

The Ye S7 tips the scales at 5,082 lb and can reach a top speed of 112 mph. Powering the SUV are lithium ternary batteries from CATL.

The Ye S7 is not Honda's first entry into China's EV market. The company already has two other brands targeting this segment, e:N and Lingxi. However Honda aims to launch six models under the Ye brand by 2027, making it the most important for its goal of achieving 100% electrification in China by 2035.
