Hyundai teases Mobion concept with crab-walking tech and transparent displays

Hyundai Mobis, the tech division of the renowned car manufacturer, is ready to reveal its groundbreaking Mobion concept at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in just over a week.

Bucking the trend of typical electric vehicle launches, the Mobion is shrouded in mystery, but insiders hint that it will likely build upon the innovative foundation of the first Mobion Ioniq 5. The star of the show is Hyundai's revolutionary e-Corner system, empowering the Mobion with the ability to turn each wheel by a staggering 90 degrees. This allows for nimble maneuvers like Zero Turn, Pivot Turn, and Diagonal Driving.

Another showstopper at CES 2024 will be Hyundai's Innovative Transparent Display series. This futuristic tech includes an in-vehicle rollable display and a swivel display, featuring a Quantum Dot and Local Dimming Display with 3D viewing comparable to OLED-level systems.

The transparent display, utilizing holographic optical elements, stands out for its ability to present crucial information to the driver without obstructing the road ahead. Hyundai Mobis envisions this as a next-level head-up display, magnifying images on the windshield for real-time updates on vital metrics like battery range.

Apart from the displays and the new concept vehicle, Hyundai Mobis will introduce its new 22kW Charging Control Unit, designed with vehicle-to-grid applications in mind. With double the power of the current industry standard, this innovation slashes EV charging times, offering a significant advantage for drivers seeking quick pit stops.

Adding to the excitement, Hyundai promises an interactive experience for attendees at CES 2024. Unlike previous static displays, showgoers will have the opportunity to explore the Mobion firsthand, providing a hands-on encounter with the future of electric mobility.
