Mercedes announces cheaper all-electric C300 with 429 miles range and AWD
The electric Mercedes C-Class debuted back in April, with only the C400 4MATIC available initially. Today, the company unveiled the C300 4MATIC and made it available for order as well. It's a more affordable version with four-wheel-drive, but slightly lower power output and battery capacity. Notably, the company also promised a rear-wheel drive option (C300+) in the future with a cruising range of around 497 miles.
The C300 4MATIC comes with an 85 kWh battery, a step down from the 94 kWh Li-NMC battery pack inside the C400 model, but it's still good enough for 429 miles on a single charge on the WLTP cycle. The 800-volt platform allows the battery to be charged at up to 320 kW on a suitable DC charger, adding 180 miles of range in 10 minutes.
The combined output of the front and rear electric motors is 416 hp and 800 Nm of torque, which is not far from the C400's 483 hp under the hood.
Of course, the standard features such as the MBUX Hyperscreen are here to stay, but the Airmatic air suspension and the rear-axle steering are optional.
The Mercedes C300 4MATIC is already available to order on Mercedes' official website in Germany for €62,951, but the company doesn't say when to expect actual deliveries to commence.
