Mercedes will reportedly use Momenta's autonomous driving software
According to inside sources, Mercedes is planning to launch four new models between 2025 and 2027, running Momenta's smart autonomous driving software. This is a Chinese startup in which the company invested in 2017, but the two parties have never announced a partnership.
The report seems entirely plausible, given Mercedes' weakened market position in China. German automakers have been struggling when it comes to software features, and this is seemingly Mercedes' plan to catch-up.
Moreover, people familiar with the matter claim that Mercedes and Momenta are discussing a long-term partnership that would extend beyond 2027, as well as the prospects of using the ADAS (Advanced driver-assistance system) on vehicles outside of China.
