MG4 gets two new versions in China under Mulan name
MG Mulan is sold in Europe as MG4 and in China the car has just received two more trims - Flagship and Deluxe. MG is owned by SAIC and the MG Mulan is built on the SAIC’s MSP platform, which in China is referred to as Nebula Platform. The new Flagship and Deluxe trims are the equivalents of the European MG4 EV SR and MG4 EV LR respectively.
The Flagship version comes with a 125 kW electric motor with 250 Nm of torque, it powers the rear wheels and takes electricity from a 51 kWh LFP battery pack which is good enough for 425 km of range according to CLTC. Top speed is capped at 160 km/h and the car starts at just over $20,500 with the local subsidies already included.
The Deluxe version comes with a 150kW electric motor with the same torque of 250Nm. This time the battery is a 64kWh ternary pack and as a result the range goes up to 520km. The top speed is the same at 160km/h and this version starts at $21,300 at the current exchange rates - with the subsidies included.
Both versions are available in 7 exterior colors and 3 interior options, the 10.25-inch center screen and 7-inch instrument panel are standard and so is wireless charging, surround-view camera, heated front seats, air purification system and keyless entry.
The Deluxe trim comes with Level 2 ADAS with automatic cruise control and lane keep assist among other standard features. It ups the number of speakers to 6 for the audio system and it adds adaptive high and low beam lights as well as imitation leather upholstery. The exterior gets treated to a sports appearance package with a rear spoiler and front splitter.
We are still waiting to see the dual-motor version of the MG Mulan. The car was announced with 315kW of combined power and 600Nm of torque. That much power in this rather compact hatchback would make it a proper hot-hatch with its claimed 3.8 seconds sprint from 0 to 100 km/h.
