MG Cyber GTS Concept celebrates the legacy of the MGC GTS Sebring

MG has thrown down the gauntlet with its latest Cyber GTS Concept, challenging the very notion of what an electric sports car can be. This all-electric coupe, revealed at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, pays homage to the brand's racing heritage while embracing the latest EV technology.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary MGC GTS Sebring racecar, which made its mark at the 1968 12 Hours of Sebring, the Cyberster-based Cyber GTS Concept is a reimagined vision of a classic sports coupe for the electric age. The fixed roof replaces the Cyberster's retractable soft top, resulting in a sleeker profile and a more aerodynamic silhouette. While the interior layout remains under wraps, MG suggests that it may adopt a 2+2 seating configuration, offering added practicality for daily driving.

Underneath the new skin, the Cyber GTS Concept shares its DNA with the Cyberster roadster, suggesting that it may inherit similar electric powertrain options. The Cyberster boasts rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, delivering up to 536 horsepower supported by a 77 kWh battery pack.

Although MG has not released full technical specifications for the Cyber GTS Concept, its close relationship with the Cyberster hints at shared components and performance characteristics. Enthusiasts can anticipate a range of power outputs and battery capacities, catering to different driving preferences and needs.

By blending classic design cues with cutting-edge technology, MG wants to create a new generation of electric sports cars that appeal to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers to the EV world.

Whether the Cyber GTS Concept makes it to production depends on the response from the public, but it has already generated considerable excitement among automotive enthusiasts. If it does become a reality, it will be a worthy addition to MG's diverse portfolio.
