Lexus supercharges the RZ with more power, more range, and a manual shift experience

Lexus is turning up the volume on its all-electric RZ SUV for 2026, delivering a big boost in power, an extended driving range, and a surprising new feature. The updated Lexus RZ got comprehensive revisions aimed at delivering a more engaging and efficient electric driving experience.

The 2026 RZ comes with a redesigned battery electric system - increased motor output, a longer driving range, and quicker charging times. But the major highlight of the new lineup is the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, which comes with the most powerful front and rear motors, promising a fun driving experience.
The RZ lineup now offers three distinct power options: the RZ 350e FWD with 221 total system horsepower, the RZ 450e AWD with 308 horsepower, and the range-topping RZ 550e F SPORT AWD with 402 horsepower.
2026 Lexus RZ | 350e | 450e AWD | 550e F Sport AWD |
---|---|---|---|
Power output | 221 hp | 308 hp | 402 hp |
Battery capacity | 74.69 kWh | 74.69 kWh | 76.96 kWh |
Range | 300 miles | 260 miles | 225 miles |
0-60 mph | 7.2 sec | 4.9 sec | 4.1 sec |
The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD also introduces a Lexus-first innovation: M Mode. Similar to the one introduced in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, this electronic system provides a virtual manual gear shifting experience through paddle shifters. This feature allows drivers to control power output as if they were operating a manual transmission.
The sportiest version of the new RZ lineup gets a performance-focused exterior design, featuring distinctive black F SPORT elements. These include the F SPORT emblem, a unique rear spoiler, redesigned front and rear bumper moldings, a specific front grille, and 20-inch wheels with aero covers. The F SPORT model will be available in an exclusive new color called Wind, a light gray with subtle metallic highlights. In total, the RZ lineup will offer seven monotone and four bi-tone exterior colors.
Beyond performance, the 2026 RZ significantly improves charging convenience and range. It now adopts the North American Charging System (NACS) charging port on the passenger’s side. The vehicle also gets an improved 11-kW on-board AC charger, up from 7-kW in previous models. Under ideal conditions, the RZ can charge from 10% to 80% battery capacity in approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging.
The RZ 350e FWD now offers an EPA-estimated driving range of 300 miles when equipped with 18-inch tires, while the RZ 450e AWD offers approximately 260 miles with the same setup. The new RZ 550e F SPORT AWD has an EPA-estimated driving range of approximately 225 miles when riding on 20-inch tires.

Inside, the 2026 RZ sticks to its minimalist cabin. The updated Dynamic Sky™ Panorama Glass Roof now offers better shading when opaque and a clearer view when transparent. The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD interior features a combination of black Ultrasuede® trim with blue stitching, exclusive to this grade. Design accents include a micro-geometric pattern on the center console, front F SPORT scuff plates, an F SPORT emblem on the steering wheel, and aluminum pedals and footrests.
A new available Ultrasuede door trim features a laser-etched pattern, and an available Thematic Illumination with Animated Door Trim Shadow Illumination adds a subtle flickering movement, creating a unique cabin experience. The 2026 RZ is assembled at the Motomachi plant in Japan and will go on sale later this year. Full specifications and pricing will be released closer to the on-sale date.

IMHO, capacity is good enough, but the efficiency is the crucial factor where OG RZ failed miserably.

Too low of range, too expensive, too low battery capacity, too low quality.
