Nio introduces 500 kW ultra-fast charger that can charge EV in under 12 minutes

Nio unveiled a new high-powered destination charger at NIO Day 2022 on December 24. It is designed to significantly reduce charging times for electric vehicles, especially those from other manufacturers. According to Nio, its new ultra-fast charger is accessible to all manufacturers of electric vehicles and is available to the public. It is capable of producing a maximum charging current of 660 A, making it one of the highest-powered chargers on the market. With its impressive output, the Nio charger is expected to significantly reduce charging times for electric cars and make the process of charging more convenient and efficient for drivers. The new ultra-fast charger is capable of delivering an 80% charge to electric vehicles built on the 800 V platform in as little as 12 minutes, provided that the vehicle has at least a 10% charge. For electric vehicles built on the 400 V platform, the charging time is around 20 minutes to achieve the same level of charge. These charging times are significantly faster than those of traditional charging stations and are expected to be particularly convenient for drivers who need to quickly recharge their vehicles while on the go.

Nio's ultra-fast charger is equipped with a 15.6-inch display and features the company's exclusive liquid-cooling technology. This advanced charging technology enables the XPeng G9 electric vehicle, which supports 4C charging, to achieve a range of more than 200 kilometers in as little as five minutes and reach a charge level of 80% in just 15 minutes from a starting charge level of 10%. This represents a significant improvement in charging times compared to traditional chargers and is expected to be particularly convenient for drivers who need to quickly recharge their vehicles while on the go.

During the launch event for Nio's new ultra-fast charger at Nio Day, the company's founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, announced that the company's charging network is open to all brands of electric vehicles and that 80.5% of the power provided is used by more than 110 other brands of vehicles. This reflects Nio's commitment to providing convenient and reliable charging options for electric vehicle drivers, regardless of the brand of their vehicle. Li also stated that Nio's charging network is the largest network of its kind in the world, underscoring the company's leadership in the electric vehicle charging industry.

According to Nio, its own vehicles use 19.5% of the electricity provided by its charging network, while BYD vehicles consume 20.4%, Tesla vehicles consume 12%, XPeng vehicles consume 3.4%, and Li Auto vehicles consume 2.9%. These figures demonstrate the wide range of electric vehicle brands that use Nio's charging network and the diverse range of charging needs among different electric vehicle models.

Nio currently owns and operates 1,284 battery swap stations and 2,239 charging stations in China, providing a total of 13,083 charging piles for electric vehicle drivers. These charging piles include both rapid charging piles, which are designed for quickly replenishing the power of electric vehicles, and destination piles, which charge at a slower rate but are convenient for drivers who are on longer trips or need to charge their vehicles overnight.

This is pretty interesting. But i would like to see a natural water powered car. Invention of Stanley Meyer wish come to life. An engine which can proppel car by a 10 000 kilometers on a single liter of pure water.
