Rivian R1T and R1S get cheaper, dual-motor standard battery pack options
Rivian has silently added a cheaper option to its online configurator for both of its models. This has dual motors and a standard 105 kWh battery pack, which is quoted at being capable of delivering 270 miles on a charge.
The R1T with this configuration starts at $73,000, which is $15,000 less than the quad-motor variant. Some people are also seeing this version with a 135 kWh battery pack and 21" wheels for either $70,000 (the lucky ones) or $80,000.
The R1S in the configuration with the dual motors and 105 kWh battery is $78,000, which is $14,000 less than if you got the quad-motor option.
Since their introduction, the R1S and R1T have only been available with quad motors, and while that's amazing if all you want is power, the dual-motor options bring much needed cheaper alternatives to the brand's stable. Production constraints seem to have been to blame for the state of things so far, but these appear to have been alleviated now.
