2024 BMW i4 brings updated range and pricing

The 2024 BMW i4 has rolled into the United States with some exciting updates, including a new xDrive40 version, improved EPA range, and a few changes in pricing. The BMW i4 lineup now consists of four versions, each available with two different wheel sizes. These versions include the rear-wheel drive eDrive35 and eDrive40, the all-wheel drive xDrive40 (a newcomer), and the performance-oriented, all-wheel drive M50.

For the 2024 model year, the eDrive35 and eDrive40 versions see a $200 price increase, starting at an MSRP of $52,200 and $57,300, respectively. The new xDrive40, with all-wheel drive, starts at $61,600 and if you opt for 19-inch wheels, that'll set you back an additional $600. The top-of-the-line M50 version sees a $1,000 price bump to $69,700, and upgrading to 20-inch wheels costs an extra $2,500. On all of those there's an additional $995 destination fee.

Now, let's talk about the all-important range and performance figures. The 2024 BMW i4 offers a range between 227 miles and 307 miles - here's the detailed breakdown:

BMW i4 version Wheel size Range 0-60 mph Top speed
eDrive35 18-inch 276 miles 5.8 s 118 mph
eDrive35 19-inch 252 miles 5.8 s 118 mph
eDrive40 18-inch 301 miles 5.4 s 118 mph
eDrive40 19-inch 283 miles 5.4 s 118 mph
xDrive40 18-inch 307 miles 4.9 s 124 mph
xDrive40 19-inch 279 miles 4.9 s 124 mph
M50 19-inch 269 miles 3.7 s 130 mph
M50 20-inch 227 miles 3.7 s 130 mph

The standout improvement is in the entry-level eDrive35 version with 18-inch wheels, which now boasts 276 miles of range, up from 256 miles thanks to improved efficiency. The xDrive40, surprisingly, offers more range (307 miles) than its rear-wheel drive counterpart (301 miles) when equipped with 18-inch wheels.

When it comes to charging, BMW claims that a full AC recharge should take 9-10 hours, while a 10-80% DC fast charge should take approximately 30 minutes. Buyers will receive two years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions at the Electrify America charging network.
