BYD celebrates 6 millionth electrified car rolling off assembly
BYD just celebrated its 6 millionth NEV car rolling off the assembly line. The car in question is a Bao 5 model from BYD's Fangchengbao sub-brand. BYD took a commemorative photo and thanked all the people - travelers and supporters - who have helped make this possible. BYD adds that it's the first car company to achieve 6 million new energy vehicles.
It took BYD 13 years to reach the 1 million NEV milestone. Last year on November 16, the carmaker saw its 3 millionth NEV unit produced. In August of this year, BYD announced it had produced its 5 millionth NEV and now, a little over three months later, it's sitting on number 6.
BYD is China's biggest new energy vehicle maker. It stopped making combustion engine-only vehicles in March of 2022 and since then has been making only plug-in hybrids and EVs.
