BYD has another record-breaking month in August
We recently reported on BYD's record-breaking first half of this year in terms of sales, and now the Chinese company is celebrating yet another milestone.
In August, it sold 274,386 "New Energy Vehicles" (NEVs), which is Chinese for "things that can be plugged in" - keep in mind this includes pure EVs as well as plug-in hybrids and extended-range hybrid EVs.
That's a record number for one month for the ever-growing company and it's worth praising. Year-on-year growth is 57.5% (so compared to August 2022).
However, growth is slowing compared to 2022 and even 2021, understandably since it's always easier to grow from a lower point in market share than from a higher one. Think of it like this: 1,000% growth from 1,000 units is much more easily achievable compared to 150% growth from 150,000 units.
In August, 262,571 units sold were part of the Dynasty and Ocean ranges, 11,515 were of the Denza sub-brand, and the company exported 25,023 vehicles.
BYD's total sales of NEVs so far have exceeded 5.1 million, and the company is looking to expand across more models and markets in the future to keep that growth coming.

Yes they are real. Why do you think they are fake? I’ve lived in China for 9 years now and BYD cars are everywhere. That number is not fake as now more Chinese people are shifting to ev cars. Please don’t say things that you don’t even know

Not trusting that. Those sales numbers are not real. The car dealerships buy BYD cars in bulk and sell them to the customers at a slightly lower price as used car. That way, they inflate the sale numbers while real sales are much lower.
