Canoo sells 3,000 electric vans to Zeeba with more to follow

Canoo is on the roll, the ink has barely dried on the contract with Walmart for 10,000 vehicles and now Zeeba, the US fleet solutions company, placed a binding order for 3,000 electric vehicles, with a further 2,450 vehicles to follow later.

Canoo is being handed lifelines one after another and hopefully this will be enough to keep the company afloat and start delivering its funky looking Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) and Lifestyle Vehicle (LV) in the passenger version vehicles.

Canoo LDV is a Class 1 electric commercial vehicle made in the US and is built on the company’s own EV platform MPP. Its unusual shape offers an unprecedented amount of space up front and great visibility. Despite its size, the car has a small turning radius which is perfect for delivery duties. The 80kWh battery pack delivers up to 250 miles of range and is coupled with a 350hp electric motor which is more than enough to deal with its 1,543lbs (700kg) of payload.

Canoo vehicles are built as modular means of transport, with easily reconfigurable interiors that can cater for changing needs of the owners. The coolest of the Canoo vehicles is probably the pickup truck, but in all honesty, all of them look so different they will be turning heads for years to come.

Zeeba is offering fleet solutions to small and medium businesses across the US and the company wants to electrify its fleet with a plan to have at least 50% electric cars on its books by the end of first quarter of 2024.

Apart from its LDV and LV, Canoo offers a larger electric commercial vehicle called MPDV or Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle. It is based on the same skateboard architecture as its smaller siblings, but offers much more flexibility. The MPP platform features steer-by-wire and the company credits this solution for being able to offer so many different vehicle options based on one platform.
