Ford Power Promise gives EV buyers a free home charger

Today Ford has announced its Power Promise initiative, which will give some perks to those who purchase or lease a retail Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit.

They will get a complimentary home charger, the Ford Charge Station Pro (a $1,310 value) that will be installed at no charge. For Ford Pro fleet customers, there will be a commercial charging cash incentive.

Ford is also launching round-the-clock live support, complete with proactive charging assistance. Dedicated Ford advisors will be available via text. And Roadside Assistance will pick you up and bring you to the nearest charging station or dealership in case of running out of charge, no matter where you are. The support system and roadside assistance only apply to the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E.

These are basically the only new bits, but Ford has also used the same press release to reiterate a few facts. First, its BlueOval Charge Network searches for chargers across Electrify America and Tesla Superchargers and adds charging stops to your route via the Connected Navigation in your Ford vehicle. And when you get to the charger, Plug and Charge means payment is automatically made through your FordPass account. Ford also provides an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty for every one of its EVs.
