Ford’s best-selling crossover goes electric - meet Puma Gen-E

Ford is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the all-electric Puma Gen-E. This new model brings zero-emission driving to Ford's best-selling car in Europe, offering customers an interesting option in the compact crossover segment.

The Puma Gen-E keeps the sporty design, but is powered by a 43 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 234 miles on the WLTP cycle. A 10-80% charge takes approximately 23 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

The electric powertrain outputs 168 hp and does the 0-62 mph in 8 seconds flat.

Despite its compact size, the Puma Gen-E offers ample cargo room thanks to the innovative GigaBox. This expanded version of the MegaBox boot storage provides up to 20.3 ft³ of space with the rear seats in place, exceeding the capacity of some larger SUVs. There's a handy 43-l frunk for storage of cables and accessories.

The exterior of the Puma Gen-E comes with a distinctive "shield" design replacing the traditional grille. It is clearly inspired by its bigger sibling, the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Inside the cabin, the Puma Gen-E features two displays and the latest generation SYNC 4 infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility. Wireless phone charging comes standard as well.

Advanced driver-assistance systems, such as Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centering are present. Dynamic Matrix LED headlights are also part of the higher Premium trim.

The Puma Gen-E is produced at Ford's assembly plant in Craiova, Romania, with electric drive units manufactured in Halewood, UK. The vehicle is available for order in the UK with a starting price of $39,568 for the base model, with deliveries expected to begin in the spring of 2025.

Converting a ICE Puma $25k to Electric, with a kit, would cost $5k. A aftermarket converted Electric puma costs $30k. That's $8k cheaper than what they are trying to sell.

Ford as usual has priced it higher than competitors MG 4, BYD Dolphin, Renault 5 $25k . Plus this has lesser features. Means no one will buy it. Then they will say EV market is in a slump. Its not the market, its your expensive price tag Ford. Its li...

Obviously, they do not want to sell it. Any Chinese car will eat this for breakfast. Wrong battery chemistry, low capacity, high price, not too appealing design.
