GAC Aion started pre-production performance testing of the Hyper SSR

The GAC Aion supercar has taken another step towards becoming a reality. The pre-production has begun, and the first units are already being subjected to performance tests.

In mid-December, the Hyper SSR electric supercar from GAC Aion successfully completed its first trials and has now entered the production validation phase, according to an announcement from the company.

GAC Aion has announced that the successful completion of the real-world performance test for the Hyper SSR signifies a major milestone in the development of the vehicle and brings it closer to production and delivery.

GAC Aion's real world tests of the Hyper SSR also confirmed its 1.9s acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, subjecting the driver to 1.7G force. The Hyper SSR's motors are capable of producing 1,225hp and torque reaches 12,000Nm at the wheel.

According to GAC Aion, the high-performance SiC chips used in the Hyper SSR are made from the same material as the semiconductor technology used in China's High Speed Rail, which allows for a 250% increase in operating frequency and an 80% reduction in power consumption.

According to the available information, the Hyper SSR is equipped with a traction control system that features a forward feedback algorithm. This enables the electronic stability system to anticipate and optimize the vehicle dynamics and trajectory, enhancing the overall driving experience.

GAC Aion is offering customers the choice between two versions of the Hyper SSR. The base model takes 2.3s to reach 100km/h from standstill and costs RMB1.286 million ($184,000).

The other variant of the Hyper SSR is called the Hyper SSR Ultimate and it the one who delivers all the impressive power figures quoted by the company. It will cost RMB1.686 million ($241,000).

At the time of its unveiling, GAC Aion announced that the Hyper SSR would enter mass production and begin deliveries in October 2023.

According to a recent report, the premiere of the brand's second supercar model, a coupe version of the Hyper GT, will be held at the Guangzhou auto show on December 30.
