Here's the Tesla Model Y Juniper in all its glory with zero camo

Vlad, 09 January 2025

It's the season for winter testing these days. We've just seen Nio's first Firefly EV undergoing winter testing, and now it's time for Tesla's long-anticipated upcoming refresh / facelift of the Model Y.

The new Model Y, codenamed Juniper, was last spotted on the streets wearing camo yesterday, and today we have something much better: a look at it with zero camo.

While the sides do vaguely remind us of the old Model Y, the new one is quite a departure from the front and the rear, with the new light bar design that's oh-so-trendy in the EV space these days. The actual headlights are thus very much reduced in size, basically being just a thicker sliver of LEDs at either end of the light bar that we assume will be used as a daytime running light. If this reminds you of the Tesla Cybertruck, you're not alone.

There's another light bar on the back, that curves down and then back towards the center for a little bit. Tesla has been rumored to enhance the interior of the Model Y with this facelift as well as the performance, so it will be one of the most important refreshes in recent car history, especially seeing as how the Model Y is by far Tesla's best selling vehicle.

A rumor from last month claimed Tesla would start production of the Model Y Juniper at its Shanghai Gigafactory this month, and if that's true then we expect the new car to go official very soon. Stay tuned.
