Kia delays its EVs' access to Tesla Superchargers in North America

Kia EVs in North America were supposed to get access to Tesla's Supercharger network starting on January 15. But that's not happening anymore.

Kia has hastily updated its press releases which mentioned the January 15 date, and now that has been replaced with "first quarter of 2025". So, Kia owners in the US and Canada, you're not touching Tesla Superchargers just yet.

You will be able to use them at some point before March 31. At least that's the situation right now, who knows if it will change again. The good news is Kia will still provide free NACS adapters, which are required to use Superchargers, to those who got a Kia EV9 or EV6 on or after September 6, 2024. Those who received a Kia EV before that date will need to purchase the adapter.

Although Kia hasn't made pricing for the adapter public yet, given what we've seen from other EV makers, this should come in at around $200. We assume Kia will divulge availability and pricing for the adapter closer to its actual Supercharger access date, whatever that ends up being.
