Kia EV5 is never coming to the US, but will be available in Canada
Kia has just announced that, in North America, the EV5 will be exclusively available in Canada. So the US won't ever see this model for some reason that unfortunately hasn't been explained.
The weirdness continues with the fact that the Canadian EV5 will ship with the NACS charging port built-in, thus it will have access to Tesla's Supercharging network in both the US and Canada. But it won't be sold in the US.
The EV5 is expected to arrive in dealerships across Canada in 2026. It will be offered in eight colorways, of which two are completely new to Kia: Magma Red and Frost Blue.
The EV5 will be available with two battery packs: 60.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. There will be front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, and a choice of 18", 19", and 20" alloy wheels.
Kia says the EV5 is "intended to accelerate the adoption of EVs by overcoming the affordability barrier that exists within the automotive landscape", but doesn't go into any pricing details to prove its point. The EV5 will be showcased at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto starting on February 14.

Perhaps they won't be able to produce very many? It would make sense to start in Canada if production volume is low, because it's a much smaller market than the US.
