Good news for those waiting for their new Tesla - the waiting lists are getting shorter but what is behind the lower numbers?

Though I could easily afford to purchase a Tesla, at this point I would not want to be associated with Elon Musk in any way. My next car will be an electric self-driving vehicle, but it won't be a Tesla.

I would buy tesla if its not that noisy on highway speeds.
And maybe to update all model lineup with new ones wouldn't be a bad idea, not just incremental iterations..this passes for apple with consumers electronics but cars people tend to keep longer or at least go to something different after lease is expired

EV market simply starting to pick up the pace and Tesla is not the only one making EV ... it is still almost the only one making good EVs, but things like Ionic 5 will eventually force some changes in strategy.
Tesla is currently lucky most of the EV manufacturers make terrible EVs or EVs that are designed is such a bad way, in two years they will feel ancient - like Mercedes EQS.

Because they are badly made ,overhyped ,expensive cars ?

I would consider another factor as well : the diminishing popularity of Elon Musk. His inspiring figure had been a reason to choose tesla in the past. His recent choices with Twitter (but not only), which can be called controversial to say the least, could easily defer a number of customers (including myself). Although it has nothing to do with product quality and it's totally subjective, I wouldn't like the feeling of making him richer, even by a cent.
