Unless you are part of a VW group, you have nothing to worry about ... on the other hand, anything else but current VW software would be a major step up - even something inherently unstable like iOS or Android.

I can confirm that... 3 years ago actually this was reason why some automakers could not integrate google play store not just google maps on their android devices as google said or you give us ADAS data access or you have to walk without GMS. Some complied like Volvo.etc..
But this might be good news ... as well might mean google change their tune... or...
