Smart #1 Brabus faces Moose Test, fails miserably

The most powerful Smart #1 has been put through the Moose Test and the results were quite unsettling.

The analysis of the video wasn't very good.
The problems were (a) the wrong tyres for the job - fixable - and (b) late and overreacting ESP - also most likely fixable.
The author didn't understand the Moose Test - the standard #1 wouldn't be any faster because the result of the test is the highest speed at which you can get through the gates without hitting anything.

Having myself had to replace those infuriating low rolling resistance tyres on an ordinary Toyota after nearly crashing going down a wet rural road, with no further problems, I'd point to them as being the real problem as the oversteer makes clear. The ESP wouldn't have to work if the tyres gripped.

The Smart #1 is a tall car and they always do badly on the test (see the RAV4). Should they have brought out a "Brabus" version? I'd say absolutely not, but I also think all EVs should be limited to 300BHP for the safety of other road users.
