Other big promises are made too - up to 450 km range, and it will be "as spacious as a Golf".

To be fair the guy did stumble over the words, but what they actually said is that by 2030 they expect that 80% of their own sales will be EVs. Not that they will have an 80% share of the EV market.

Oh wow, the front and side are brilliant, the interior is ok...ish, but the rear is the most boring rear of any car lately! What an achievement.

I think these specifications are pure fantasy and wishful thinking. Nothing more.

You can't possibly have a car with a) 4 meters length, b) 490lt storage, c) 450km autonomy d) under 25k!!!

As for autonomy: 450km how? Going with 30-50km/h in a city? Then this is a fake number. Give me highway speeds. Also 450km in all versions? Will there be a small and a large battery to choose? The 25k version will get what autonomy exactly?

For the price: 25k in 2025... maybe maybe, if it comes with manual windows and plastic wheel covers. Every other version probably will start above 30k.

IMHO 80% of the market is achievable, since VW owns Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, Porsche, SEAT, Cupra etc.
The only real competition on the market is Hyundai, Peugeot and possibly Tesla ... EU will ban Chinese EVs and bam, another opportunity for VW :-D
That said, I would not touch current VW EVs with a 10-meter pole, unless it is Audi/Porshe based platform ... but that is unreasonably expensive.

ID.2 is certainly a good move forward, hopefully it won't suffer bad cooling, bad battery management, bad UX and be overweight tank like every other VW concern EV. Till this day, Citigo EV feels like the best EV they ever made (considering all the compromises and price).
