veryangrynerd, 28 Aug 2023the point is everyone can make an acceptable quality car the OS is what will bring smart featu... moreThat seems so utterly useless, when you have a phone with you all the time.
Profiles, seat position, mirror angle, pedal mapping etc. is hardly considered as an OS thing, since it is possible on many models with fairly dumb and limited OS running on infotainment screen, not to mention you would probably be able to find it in on some 20 yo car made by Volvo or others.

"Several 1000s of scenarios can be done with an OS in a car." and Several 1000s of those scenarios are useless, won't work, won't work correctly or be locked behind a paywall ... it is hard to imagine OS fixing any of the issues I have with incompetent software on pretty much every current car on the market.
OS is just a platform a core where other "app" run, no OS can save mediocre software running on it.

Fearghast, 26 Aug 2023One would think people buy cars, when they think it is a good car ... not because it runs some... morethe point is everyone can make an acceptable quality car the OS is what will bring smart features and which OS will do the better job now that is the race.
A map that actually has maximum point of interest, and will not send you to the wrong place.
Quality of life improvements with smart user based automation. Advanced driving assistance, dynamic/ static steering sensitivity, single pedal/ multi pedal preference, heating/cooling preferences, habit based auto mapping directions. several 1000s of scenarios can be done with an OS in a car. User A is driving because he entered with his phone, User A needs to reach work at 7:15, its 6:55am and User A probably is going to work automatic directions set on screen, User A as set a calendar slot to meet Friend Y for lunch at X cafe at 1:00pm, user A just enter car at 12:50 he probably wants to go to X cafe. Set directions for X cafe, no user interaction in car. User has made notes for a shopping list(everyone knows damn well this notification was swiped away among the 100s that come on a phone), remind user after work ends if he wants to go to supermarket to pickup stuff.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2023If they ever bring them to EU while still using HarmonyOS that would be greatOne would think people buy cars, when they think it is a good car ... not because it runs some kind of OS.
When you finish your ride, what do you do? You stay in your car and watch Netflix on some 10-15" screen, or you go home and do something that is not obstructed by a form factor there?
Do really people stay in their cars when they end their trip and fiddle with car OS for an hour? I know manufacturers would like people to believe that, because there is nothing exciting about the car as a machine for driving.
