According to my initial considerations, this is only feasible for unsteered wheels. For steered wheels, you would need something like a CV again. But perhaps not a bad idea for a non-steered rear axle.

fun research but those gears are cringey for reliability/durability. Hyundai already had fun with in-wheel motors. I think they should focus there and sell a car based on this. I think using extra large diameter wheels will help reduce the shortcomings of current in-wheel motors, in other words, SUVs or larger
