What is unfair about mandating lower emissions: any manufacturer can make that change, and Stellantis are doing so in other markets. If their management didn't see this coming in the US then it is their management who are to blame for taking their eye off the ball and failing at their jobs. But I'll bet they aren't taking any pay cuts.

And there is no reason they can't offer the same range of vehicle options in other states. That's not the fault of the CARB regs, it's Stellantis management's decisions again. They are the ones who choose to restrict your options, not the other states.

Bro, EVs are literally the reason why Stellantis is pressed. They don't have a dedicated good platform yet, like Kia, VW, Polaris or Hyundai does. As always, the French are behind in electronics. They're trying, but it's not clicking, until they develop the new one they've been raving about. They've been pressed in Europe because Chinese makes like BYD are overtaking their terf. Stellantis is being typically French about this, as always. Throwing a fit instead of catching up.

It's frustrating to see that dealerships in CARB states have an advantage over those in non-CARB states. Forced prioritization of hybrids and EVs is not a fair market situation.

Personally, I'd never buy a Stellantis product but EV's just aren't selling well in the US as a whole. They do alright in California, but in most of the US, they just aren't popular and are sitting on dealer lots for months and months. I don't think even cheap Chinese EV's would spur much more adoption other than for local commuting vehicles....and I'm someone who's been watching the BEV market for years in anticipation of buying one.
