But there are also difficult situations like unprotected turns.Even unprotected turns are perfectly aligned with 90 degrees to each other and 90-95% of drivers obey the rules in the US. roads are so wide and all roads have visible lanes. there are no unexpected holes on the road surface that you need to avoid. all imperfections or roadworks are clearly marked and taken care of. it is so easy to drive in the US for any non-US driver but, vice versa is quite steep learning curve. same story for self driving vehicles. you can only compare when you travel different countries a lot.

End-to-end neural seems to really be a game-changer and so far it's proving Musk's abrupt monumental change to be the right decision.

Sure, it's not perfect, but it is damned good already given the dramatic pivot. Based on that, this is the way forward and I expect everyone else to follow suit over the next few years.
