Anonymous, 02 Apr 2024That weird feeling when the US does not get the best cars anymore.. I dread to ask, what is your definition of "best cars" :-D

Fearghast, 29 Mar 2024TBH, being loyal to brands like VW, Renault, Hyundai, Peugeot, Fiat, BMW etc. I really don... moreelectronics and automotive have totally different dynamics and expectations. that's why people are much more conservative when selecting cars. electronics are low budget short term investments. but, cars are biggest investments for any individual and they are expected to last 5-10 years. if an electronic device part breaks after warranty, you can give it away because they mostly became worthless in second hand. but, car parts (drivetrain, paintjob, covers, buttons, seats, screws, joints, insulation rubbers, window/wiper motor, airbags etc.) must last 5-10 years even under sunny or humid weather conditions. electronic devices usually don't break on their own easily or it is possible to ship them to a repair center. but, cars need maintenance every year so, there has to be at least 1 official or 3rd party garage in every city in the world. consumer electronics has no obligation on people safety. but, cars have to save lives in accidents and fulfill NCAP standards.

long story short, consumer electronics responsibility and expertise is not comparable with automotive sector. it makes sense to trust xiaomi in consumer electronics, electric kitchenware, electric scooters or brown goods but, not cars.

There is no company that can build perfect product without experience. This might be a promising car, but I'll wait until they debug it.

Being loyal to something like Toyota, Honda, Subaru does not seem to be as far-fetched as they offer consistent idea and level of quality.

Xiaomi will have to face the same requirements customers demand out of "classic" brands - like being able to service your car, post sale support, third party accessories like bike racks, compatible wheels or tires etc.
Customers are certainly less forgiving when it comes to cars, compared to something like buying a Xiaomi rice cooker.

Even though you think Xiaomi has 0 year experience I'm pretty sure they started this off by poaching some experts to their roster. As a technology company they are better off running millions of simulations to bring a MVP product that is not outright terrible.Unlike Tesla overall, Xiaomi has excellent after sales service in China and for the sake of penetrating a new market they will give extra care to A. help create a new and positive image and B. learn for free from the customers themselves on what to improve.

All the well established organisations have become egotistical and lethargic in their service making it feel like they are doing you a favour by making your car usable for anything longer than 5 years.

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2024damn good pricing. i wish it was sold in my country (id). please dont keep us waiting for too long.It really is good pricing! Now imagine that there is a version without space ship things (remove lidars, radars, atmos, huds, tablets, leather, cameras, AI chips) and you have a normal electric car for 25 000 €... Or less.

xiaomi is not a car company. they definitely have no expertise in automotive industry or related aftersales responsibility. I would better recommend sticking with regular brands like vw, renault, hyundai, peugeot, honda, toyota, fiat etc... these have very well established organizations all over the world and automotive is their main commitment. they have been building cars for 100 years and they will be building cars for many years to come.

S, 29 Mar 2024These models got self-driving function or not?Yes!

I live in China and explain to you: xiaomi car is made by BAIC, state owned company with poor quality history( arcfox brand). Other brands like Zeekr (owned by Geely) or Xpeng or Liauto are privately owned and more innovative/better quality. Secondly: Xiaomi (main phone company) and Xiaomi car company are completely separated on paper, so 2-3 years later Xiaomi car go bankrupt and Xiaomi will not respect car warranty, that is normal malpractice in China. Some Xiaomi fans will buy but general public won't. I doubt this will survive more than 3-4 years and more than 2-3 models.

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2024I doubt... Why did the Mate 60 Pro outsell, the iPhone 15sThat's Huawei though. The sales of the Xiaomi 14 ultra are a fraction of the Mate 60 pro or IPhone 15 series. Tesla is very popular in China
