China proposes a 25% tariff on large European ICE vehicles in response to the EU's tariffs on China-made EVs.

If I am not mistaken, EU has higher export to US than US to EU. G

And I also said EU can support their industry instead of tariffs. China will retaliate, so It will hurt EU car makers.

I find It ridiculous that supporting their own manufacturers is supposedly considered unfair practice.
The customer gets a cheaper car, that's hardly a bad thing.
If western automakers can't compete then their government can support them the same way as China supposedly did, but instead of this support they put additional tariffs, is that really fair to the customer?

BTW, I really want to know when there was a fair trade to begin with? From this fair trade only some countries benefit, the rest either don't have their own car makers or technologically are way behind, that can't be called as fair competition in my opinion.

Although China is not the only one breaking them... The US does the same with the IRA but in s more subtle way (financing consumers instead of companies)

remember that euro exports are higher in value/price compared to chinese exports.

is a porsche export worth the same as a mg export ? what happens to those lost sales ?

Why EU think that Chinese EV subsidies are illegal and unfair? Just because EU does not subsidies enough there EV car makes, does not mean its some one alse need to be blamed
