If BYD was more aggressive in expanding and even more competitive in pricing, then EU would have applied additional tariffs even sooner. It would need to make the cars in EU, but then they would mostly loose the competitive edge.
Eu will protect their own manufacturers, although It will likely cost them the Chinese market and for the rest of the world, EU car makers are too expensive unless they produce the cars outside of EU.

Ahmad, 03 Aug 2024Is BYD to become the biggest EV seller in Europe? Probably not, they had their time to shine ... to shine big, but they managed to expand extremely slowly, and now they pretty much lost the momentum.
Their pricing in Europe certainly did not help with their expansion + Teslas discounts ... I had high hopes for BYD in Europe, but they were slow and not as competitive as previously thought.

the rest of the world, where the majority of people/consumers are, yes.
start with phev, then transition to ev.
byd makes more than just passenger cars.
