Though I still fear that what each country requires will make things more complicated, and maybe those 13 years will not be enough even with our vast improving tech.

Good going, EU. Also, other countries should follow (if they can)

The still proposed legislation - not a law yet - will only affect the EU. The ICE cars will still be manufactured but won't be sold in Europe but honestly - 13 years is a long time, look how far we've come since 2009. As for the infrastructure - billions are being poured into it, by 2030 Europe will have enough charging stations to support EV transition, some countries will be slower but will still have plenty of time to catch up. The rest of the world needs to start looking at its own, market specific solutions. As much as we may not like the idea it's time to realize this is the only sensible option we have left.

My only issue with this is that I think the market should decide, not a group of paid off politicians. Allow EVs to hold their own weight over combustion. That way it benefits everyone. EV manufacturers will do everything they can to make their vehicles the same as or better than their combustion counterparts. This would also aid in actually driving the price down of EVs as they have to keep up with the preowned affordability of used combustion vehicles. Do I think EVs are gonna take over? At some point yes. But it should be done when the technology and infrastructure is ready for prime time, not shoehorned in by what the Government thinks its people should be doing.

This will be quite stupid if it also affects ICE cars production.
For instance, extremely hot countries like KSA are not ready for EVs. One of the most backdraws of EV batteries is heating and just by leaving your car outside it will be close to exploding.
Not to mention, many countires are not able to build enough charging stations or provide enough electricity by 2035 or even further.
