Apple's highly anticipated CarPlay 2 has been delayed indefinitely, leaving the future of the ambitious in-car system uncertain.

They already have one. Each of the car manufacture already have it
There is no benefit in replacing their system with Apple's and then pay Apple tax.
The Chinese even miles ahead the European & Japanese now in car chip.
American car... Let just say in Europe & Asia, American car can't sell.

this is apple's eventual goal because they don't have applecar.
from basic carplay > control headlights > apple ai/self driving
so honda civic powered by apple ai and the latest apple chip.

apple wants to make more money/eat more markets/more products
and boom apple stock to the moon.

What I mean is, the technology for displaying information on car is NOT a very big tech anymore.
Even a $100 phone can do very well in displaying information & powerfull enough for watching video.
Why pay Apple tax then??

100000% agree on this.
I see that Apple lost their mojo Since Jobs were gone.
It's on autopilot now.

now they're trying to force their way with deeper integration on other carmakers."

Actually one of the big problem is the iOS.
iOS is not very good at handling multi-tasking.
Not as good as Android.

iOS "paused" the apps that were in the background.
In car, you can't "pause" anything.

Any China RISC-V will do

apple also hired a a bunch of h1b visas that worked on this.

Tesla FSD renders it all obsolete. You won't need any of this, just a big screen, a microphone to issue voice commands and two red mushroom buttons to override the AI in an emergency to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Follow Whole Mars Catalog on YouTube to see FSD doing it's thing. Typing this from my Model Y LR with FSD UK edition (IE, Autopilot Enhanced) that has just driven me 80 miles autonomously meaning reduced driver fatigue, way safer drive etc. No dashboard required!

My bet is:
The Chinese brand aren't intrested in Apple anymore as they can make better system.
And the European car brand were eyeing the Chinese ecosystem because it's cheaper and better
Apple feel that they can't really sell it, thus using the words "delayed" to save fasce
