Everybody will survive some way or another...
But everybody will suffer losses. Maybe the EU more than to the US becaus "Dollar is the king" as Anonymous says. Maybe the US more than the EU because they started a war against everyone, a war that cannot be won.
4 years down the line I don't think there will be many US citizens that will say " wow! I got a lot poorer from they economic war we started but hey, EU citizens got even poorer than us so it's a clear win! God bless the president!"

The only ones that are going to pay the extra tariffs Trump imposes are the Americans. Trump cannot force Europea to pay anything although he will inflict damage to EU economy, and to the US economy as well. If that is what Americans want, either because they consider it a correct financial decision or because they do not understand how tariffs work and who is paying them, then let them have it and let's see if in 3-4 years they still think the same.
The ones that will profit are of course Trump's billionaire friends as these indirect taxation of the American people and the dismantling of the government will finance to their tax reduction.

if you can't protect/defend whats yours, then
a. its not yours.
b. it becomes worthless.

america and its military has shown that its willing to spill blood and treasure to defend the us dollar.
trump is doing exactly what the voters want.
its time for europe/world to pay the american tax and collect the debt that is owed.

Donald Trump is an ignorant. Raising taxes for imported products have very short advantages. Within 2 years, it will damage US economy as a whole, The only "success" of Donald Trump is raising hostility against the US even in countries that were allies. Maybe the rumors that he was recruited by Russia in the early nineties are true, that could explain his stand on embrassing the russian positions on many subjects.

Otherwise I agree that Europe has to let go of mama US and grow up. That will play against both parties though. And the US is getting very good at alienating many allies at the moment...

European leaders have been singing and dancing to US presidents since WWII. US has been influencing or directly dictating most of national decisions and many government changes.
Unter Trump it's the first time Europeans realize that that's not the way to go anymore. That a US that threatens, loaths, economically attacks alliés or even eyes their territory for annexation and at the same time bows to the wishes and terms of autocrats is not the land of the free and cannot be relied on. EU realizes that it has to become an independent force or forge other alliances with less hostile governments.
US was leading the world before Trump. Now they are going to lose it. It won't happen overnight but it's an one way street.

Where are the tariffs on countries stealing white collar jobs? Bring programming, accounting, and service jobs back on shore. Lots of federal employee resumes seeking positions that are currently lost to India and elsewhere.
