Tesla offers a monthly subscription to solve a common, but expensive owner's problem
23 June 2025
Tesla has launched a new monthly subscription service in the US to cover the high cost of windshield repairs and replacements for most of its electric cars, but Cybertruck owners are left out.

Anybody who bothered to notice that their Tesla insurance premium doubled knows that Tesla parts & services are becoming unreasonably expensive. Excessively lightweight windshield (to optimize for range) results in stupidly weaker noisy glass. Or maybe intentionally designed to crack to generate more service revenue. MY windshield replacement: $1,600. [A software update for the windshield camera reset to be a user accessible setting could drop that price by more than half. Meanwhile, pay a $1,000 to send a camera reset command.]

car insurances already cover windshield replacements once a year. why do they need another subscription?
