Well, this doesn't sound like a good deal for the European customer - can we just for once have access to really cheap and quality EVs instead of expensive VWs??

Only shows how messed up the system is when the people you vote for no longer wants a good deal for you. So much for competition.

Basically what they agreed on is to fleece the European people more...
Hurrah for EU!

zexel802, 14 Jan 2026That is an interesting development. The EV's from chinese manufacturers will now be able ... moreThey never planned to sell It with minimal profit here like in China.
On the other hand, moving production to EU is not great for chinese companies, which have a lot of unuses capacity in China.

That is an interesting development. The EV's from chinese manufacturers will now be able to truly
show that they are just more advanced EV's. So far they are unfortunately only considered a cheaper option.

At least on the surface it sounds as if also the chinese EV's will be able to deliver a higher margin
on the european market. The chinese manufacturer will surely be happy about that giving them much needed room to breath under the immense price pressure in their home markt.

"The EU promised to check every offer fairly and objectively. They will look at the legal rules and make sure everything follows the standards set by the World Trade Organization (WTO)."

Anonymous, 13 Jan 2026They should have 0 taxes and duties for EVs under $30k for better EV adoptionThen EU manufacturers would have a problem, because Chinese cars are cheaper.
