04 February 2026
Porsche may cancel its upcoming electric 718 Cayman and Boxster models due to high development costs and a sudden shift back to internal combustion engines.

Anonymous, 08 Feb 2026Stop lying. Macan ev didn't sell the most cars.Oh yes the truth. 2 Porsche EVs sell more than combined sales of ICE line up of Porche(4 cars), excluding Cayenne. Cayenne sales have declined 21%, Cayenne EV launches this year to improve that.

Anonymous, 06 Feb 2026Wrong. Macan EV is the top selling Porsche car 45k units, Taycan 4k. That's more units so... moreReally?
https://www.best-selling-cars.com/brands/2025-full-year-global-porsche-worldwide-car-sales-by-model-and-country/

2025 Global Sales:
Macan - 84,328 (EV: 45,367 vs ICE: 38,961)
Panamera - 27,701
911 - 51,583
718 Boxster / 718 Cayman - 18,612
Cayenne - 80,886
Taycan - 16,339

What you said is a complete lie, the most sold car was Cayenne, even 911 sold more cars than your Macan EV and It's only an ICE car.
Even against Macan ICE It managed to sell only 6406(+16.44%) cars more, but the ICE version of Macan and 718 had supply gaps due to EU cybersecurity regulations. So It's questionable If without this It would manage to outsell the ICE version.

I don't see a reason why Porsche should go all electric as you want. I prefer both EV+ICE options.

They have Makan, Cayenne, Taycan EVs, It doesn't matter that only Taycan doesn't have ICE version.
And my comment was based on this article:
https://www.arenaev.com/porsche_hits_the_brakes_on_ev_plans_flagship_suv_to_launch_with_gas_power-news-5145.php
And this article also is telling a different story, while you still keep repeating how they should go pure EV.

One friend and myself are the remaining holdouts among a community of Porsche 911 lovers. The others have long ago traded in their 911's and graduated to electric. We both get a kick out of the way our 911's squat. He dreams for a Cayman EV, and I wait for a Boxster EV. Admittedly a long wait, I have cheated and accumulated several electric vehicles that have spoiled me with intelligence, quiet, performance, value, reliability, safety, and real cup-holders. Ironically, that relegates my 911 to only be driven to charge the battery.

Top selling Porsche is EV. If they delay making EVs, someone else will capture their market. Then when they decide to go electric other new EV brands would have gained public trust, improved tech and Porsche would no longer be relevant in Europe, just like they lost the plot in China

Yeah, they cerainly are buying performancie electric Porsche.

Accommodating archaic gas has a hidden cost on optimization. Porsche styling advantage becomes usurped. By eliminating gas engines, tanks, and exhaust, the front hood line could be aero-sexy, and the massive rear engine bump disappears with a Wegovy-workout. Ice drivers are all headed to senior-living, scrolling, but no longer buying. The cyber youth have been buying Performance electric. Leiters better hurry to shrink wrap the best, most sexy electric only toys sooner.
