BYD Seal 08 promises 1,000-km range thanks to its Blade 2.0 battery

Let's hope there is going to be a pure battery version as well. The DMi system puts more focus on electric driving but it remains a plug in hybrid. Once the battery depletes, they have to rely on the IC engine which needs to carry all the weight around. It wouldn't surprise me if the miles per gallon or kilometer per 100km is on the high side.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2026Converted price in China is nice to see but it would make sense to compare it to local prices ... moreThe prices mentioned are just a guess. So far it's only a filing. The mentioned SU7 is a bit smaller. The SU7 starts at 230,000 RMB in China. Converted to USD or EUR can only help to get a better feel for the price. The price in any export market depends on a lot of other factors.

Converted price in China is nice to see but it would make sense to compare it to local prices of cars it is competing with, so we can guess just how cheaper or more expensive it aims to be compared to those cars, if it ever is exported globally. By itself prices for stuff in China are typically much, much lower than in other parts of the world, so saying "this luxury sedan competes with Tesla Model S" while showing a price that looks roughly half of Tesla Model S... it does not help understanding how much this car would cost if it was exported globally. If you named Tesla Model S price right there, it would help understand whether BYD aims to undercut Tesla or aims at selling a longer range car for more money.
